We first saw this play in Chicago during the Fall of '94. The Girl Party stage is set in an apartment, where the play opens with the main character preparing to receive her guests for a party. She has invited 8 or so womyn to play Truth or Dare that evening. The guests slowly acquaint themselves with one another and the game takes a daring turn, resulting in onstage nudity, kissing and all kinds of fun.
This production was not for the faint at heart; however, it was Chicago! We saw the play again the Summer of '97, in Indianapolis. The production was still enjoyable, but was much tamer and less bawdy and rowdy. It would depend on the city producing the play, how rowdy this stage act could get. We would love to have seen this play in New York City.
The play covers issues and emotions and is generally very entertaining. It is so empowering to have plays and stage shows that portray a positive side of our lifestyle and humor.
